Now, its story time.
The morning sun shone through the curtains to Roddy's room. Roddy moved to get up, but stopped when she felt a small body under her wing. Lifting it slightly, she saw a sleeping Emrys curled up and in deep sleep. She whispered in awe,"So cute. You must of had a bad dream."
Without waking him, Roddy got up and out of her nest of blankets. Her enormous paws slid across the ground fairly quickly. Roddy slipped out the door and crept downstairs.
Roddy pulled some steak out from the fridge and placed it in the sink to defrost while she fed Emrys' spoodle and puckoos. She planned on making pancakes, scrambled eggs, and sausages. She pulled out pans and whisks and spoons and a big bowl for the pancake mix. After pulling everything out, Roddy set a fire with some matches in the oven and waited til it was hot enough. While she waited for the oven, Roddy made the mix in the bowl. She poured it into plenty of individual cakes, just like Alma taught her.
After about an hour of making pancakes and sausages, Roddy checked the fridge for eggs. "Nothing..damn." Her yellow eyes drifted towards the window that showed the puckoo coop. "I guess you guys get an early breakfast." Roddy walked towards the door, a little curious as to why it was so quite this morning. Yes, Roddy and Emrys lived quite a bit from town but still. The puckoos are normally loud and squawking constantly. Roddy's paws felt the cold wood floor to her porch and stairs as she stepped outside. Summer was right around the corner.
Picking up a giant bucket of moss covered rocks, Roddy trotted through the soft grass over to the coop. She could distract some of the more wary puckoo and take their eggs. Her mind buzzed with how delicious eggs were. That's when she smelled blood, the fur along her spine lifted and she set the bucket down. Roddy ran, too enraged and worried to think. She flew the gate open and burst in, not caring if any puckoo ran out. Roddy saw an orange creature with a blood covered muzzle. A fox?!
Roddy let out a low growl, and her tail lashed. The slinky fox looked up and seemed to smile. Roddy opened her mouth to bare her teeth, but the fox lunged at her. Too startled to dodge it, the fox leaped onto her face and bit and scratched until Roddy couldn't take anymore. She whipped her head from side to side. The fox let go, and hit the ground hard. Roddy roared at the sneaky bastard and charged. Once she reached it, Roddy began to bash the fox's body with her giant paws. She could feel it's blood spattering on her palms.
Was it dead? Was she beating a corps? No that isn't possible...is it?
After awhile of constantly hitting the fox, Roddy stopped and stared it down. The fox stared in horror and anger, before running out of the coop and scrambling under the fence facing the forest. Roddy stood there, panting. Only now did she feel the deep gash in her muzzle. The blood was warm and trickled down her face like a stream.
After calming and feeding the puckoos, she collected eggs. Roddy closed the gate and walked back to the house. She rubbed disinfectant on her face, Roddy then wrapped some bandages over her beak. Roddy was still able to eat, but it did slightly prevent her from speaking. When she returned to the kitchen, Emrys was wrapped in a blanket and waiting at the small table in the kitchen. Roddy smiled at him. He sleepily smiled back, clearly not noticing her bandages. "You hungry big guy?"
