Before Birth
Spoon's parents were both druggies that lived in Manehattan. Diamond Splash a unicorn, his mother, and Leafy Gold another unicorn, his father.
Diamond Splash was always looking for ways to obtain drugs, such as weed, marijuana, etc. but without realizing it, her most beloved drug dealer was the stallion who would steal her heart. They've never met in person, but she ordered from him quite a bit and Leafy Gold saw her as his most faithful customer. When Diamond came barging into a fancy restaurant out of frustration with a stallion outside, she happened to bump into Leafy Gold. He calmed her down and gave her a meal along with some wine. The two went home to Leafy's place and as anyone would say, "mated". 
After this, Leafy invited her to stay with him for the rest of her life(marriage) and she greatfully accepted. The time past as they soon realized that they'd be parents. Leafy got a real job and Diamond quit the drug life.
When the time neared for Leafy and Diamond's child birth, they grew very excited for such an accomplishment.

Foal-Hood
The night Spoon went home was when his parents gave him his name. The bright yellow foal had wrecked the kitchen only by slipping on a spoon. A month passed of the two busy parents having two jobs each. Leafy had lost his palace of a home and he now rented an apartment. Spoon always got into his mother's make-up when left alone and made messes everywhere. Another month had gone by of the same thing, Diamond had started staying home more and more until Leafy realized what was happening. He called a doctor over and Diamond was suspected to have breast cancer. Leafy wasted all his money on her, paying for anything that could save Diamond. Then one day after an entire year of treatments, Leafy received a call at work, which he also had Spoon with him due to no one at home to watch him. The doctor told Leafy that Diamond had fallen asleep after Leafy and Spoon visiting her that morning, and an hour had passed and when the nurse came to give her food, she wouldn't wake up.
Depressed with his life, he took Spoon to an orphanage. Spoon was left on the porch of the tall building at night, and no had answered til' morning.

Colt-Hood
Throughout his four years at the Manehatten Orphanage, he was constantly bullied.
Spoon was beat up for everything by the older orphan ponies, the staff there felt bad for him and so they decided to transfer him to an orphanage in Canterlot. When he arrived in Canterlot, his excitement blew his mind. The fillies and colts there weren't as mean, there were still bullies, but not around every corner.
After week of being there, he noticed two fillies that always followed him, a black pegasus with grey hair called Lightning Grace, and a white earth pony, with blue markings and hair called Angel Soft. When he first approached them they ran away. Eventually they spoke to him without problem, the three became best friends for seven years, two of them getting their cutie marks in the process, never once where any of them almost adopted, ever.

Adolescence
The time eventually came for them to leave the orphanage, Lightning went on to teach fillies and colts with wings to fly and the junior speedsters camp. Angel went on to teach ponies about birds, and Spoon was left without a cutie mark. He packed up his things and left Canterlot for ponyville. Once there he was asked to help some fillies with their banner for school with an odd tool for a project. He picked up a grey stained spoon, dipped it in paint and made a pretty well drawn banner.
A month went by after buying his new home, of all kinds of ponies asking him to paint them something like the filly's banner with a spoon. After a week of his constant nagging from a pony who wanted a masterpiece, he took a spoon and did his work and without noticing, he earned a cutie mark for his talent.
A week after earning it he heard that a certain purple unicorn had become a princess, so he packed up his bags not wanting anything to do with a big pony like that and left for Canterlot to live their and make art with spoons. Two years went by and his fifteenth birthday was coming up, so his friends, Angel Soft and Lightning Grace got him a cat, which he named Sirius.  He eventually made enough money to make an art class for fillies and colts who have an interest in art.(To be continued)
